When choosing half height containers to suit your offshore applications, it's important to know what the best in the market has to offer. BSL Offshore offers two standard models of half height containers to fit your unique requirements. Below is a brief overview of options for these models, as well as what commodities are best suited for half height containers.
BSL Specifics
The latest regulations and highest specifications available in the container manufacturing industry are the DNV 2.7-1 for offshore containers, the EN 12079 for design, construction, manufacturing, and inspection marking for offshore containers, and are also ISO 1161 certified to specifications of corner fittings for series one freight containers. BSL meets all of these exacting requirements, and all of our containers are designed, tested and manufactured accordingly.
The smaller half height model is the 10' x 8' x 4' container. The exterior dimensions are 2991mm x 2438mm x 1220mm, and the interior dimensions are 2764mm x 2214mm x 935mm. The tare weight is 1,750 kg, and the gross weight is 5,000 kg, for a payload of 3,250 kg. The larger half height model is the 20' x 8' x 4' container. The exterior dimensions are 6058mm x 2438mm x 1220mm, and the interior dimensions are 5758mm x 2012mm x 880mm. The tare weight is 3,320 kg, and the gross weight is 13,320 kg for a payload of 10,000 kg.
Half Height Options
Half height containers are typically top-loaded units. However, there are side-door options that can swing out for side-loading. Should the containers be needed for transport from one offshore site to another, there are lashing devices and bars that can hold tarpaulins for securing and covering the cargo to be moved. Additionally, cargo restraining nets can be added, as there are several internal tie-down and net-securing points that will hold down any goods to be transported.
An Overview of Contents
The best commodities for half height containers in offshore settings, and the most commonly seen in half height containers are pipes, short but off-dimension equipment, cables, cable spools, steel bars, and general industrial goods that tend to 'stick out' and won't fit in closed containers. Other products, such as iron ore and other mining goods are also compatible for half height containers, not only for storage, but for transport as well. In other words, the best fit for half height containers are any kinds of commodities that either need to be loaded and unloaded from the top side (usually via crane), or items that have awkward or 'off' dimensions.
