Before choosing which open top containers will be right for your offshore needs, it's important to take a good look at the two models that BSL has to offer. Below is a brief overview of BSL's containers, including dimensions and weights, and how BSL open top containers meet the latest standards and requirements for certification for offshore usage.
Types of BSL Open Top Containers
No matter which containers will best suit your needs, BSL containers have just the right variety of offshore containers for all heavy-duty applications. BSL offers two models of open top containers -- the 10' x 8' x 8' size, and the 20' x 8' x 8'6” shelved mini container. Both open top containers are good for holding, storing, and transporting a wide variety of pipes, metal/steel bars, tools, equipment, and other goods that tend to 'stick out' of normal containers or won't quite fit in closed containers. The shelved open top containers are ideal for stacking and dividing items and tools.
The 10' open top containers have exterior dimensions of 2991mm x 2438mm x 2438mm, and interior dimensions of 2828mm x 2338mm x 2053mm. The tare weight is 1,950 kg, and the gross weight is 10,000 kg for a payload of 8,050 kg. The 20' models have exterior dimensions of 6058mm x 2438mm x 2591mm, and interior dimensions of 5866mm x 2330mm x 2197mm. The tare weight is 4,400 kg, and the gross weight is 20,000 kg for a payload of 15,600 kg.
BSL Containers Meet the Latest Standards
BSL open top containers are designed, built, tested, and inspected to the latest and strictest standards and regulations. These standards are as follows:
- DNV 2.7-1 for offshore containers
- EN 12079 for offshore containers in design, construction, testing, inspection/marking.
- ISO 1161 for specification of corner fittings for series one freight containers.
The DNV stands for Det Norske Veritas, which is an independent, third-party organization that produces the standards for safety on all offshore containers for construction, design, testing, and manufacturing. This is the globally accepted standard for all certified offshore containers.
The EN 12079 is the European standardization for certification of offshore containers by the CEN (the European Committee for Standardization), another third-party organization that regulates safety for all offshore containers. The EN 12079 is based on the DNV 2.7-1 -- therefore, since the containers meet the DNV certification, they will also meet the EN certification.
The ISO 1161 specifications outline functional and strength requirements of corner fittings as described above.
Meeting these standards means that BSL offshore open top containers can be used at any port or offshore setting anywhere in the world.
